Team Boots to Books travelled to the Military Influencer Conference and our President, Peter Cline, presented on a panel alongside several of the nation's leading non-profits! The panel covered transitioning from "service to success" and landing your dream job! The panel was 90 minutes of Q&A with attendees, covering everything from defining your passion to salary negotiation to entrepreneurship.

This is your chance to get industry-leading and recruiter-recognized certifications in various fields. While we can only accept so many applications, recipients of this scholarship can pick a certification from the list we have, or submit their own certification on the application for up to $1000. Thanks to a generous donation from Spinsys, Boots to Books is not only paying for textbooks that exceed veterans' benefits for the Spring semester, but giving away 13 laptops to our military students who need them. We want to remove the financial burden and stresses that plague military connected students, we are doing that by covering books and resources so they can focus on their studies.

We understand the financial burden that student Veterans face when transitioning out of the military and into college. To ease this burden, every semester since we have been founded we have opened an application for members of the military community to have us pay for textbooks that exceed their benefits! On April 29th we welcomed Accenture, Amazon, Oracle, TD Bank, and 14 more of the nation’s best companies to a virtual hiring fair that was exclusively for our military community. With over 300 attendees, we facilitated connections that led to amazing roles in an innovative environment. Entirely free allowing candidates to view virtual booths and keynotes and live-chat with recruiters, the next is in September!

Boots to Books teamed up with some awesome organizations to incentivize our transitioning service members to perfect their elevator pitch leading into our April 29th hiring fair! By simply submitting a video of them giving their elevator pitch and keeping up to date, they are entered! Winners will have their videos emailed to recruiters prior to the event as well as win $75 Proper Patriot gift cards (a Veteran owned business).

Boots to Books founders, Peter Cline and Aubrey Sine, were invited to speak at the Rotary Club of Tiburon Sunset dinner at the San Francisco Yacht Club. This group has shown Boots to Books an immense amount of support, as has the Carolyn and Peter Friedman Foundation whose executives were in attendance. They showed us a fantastic experience and were truly a fun group to spend time with and present to!

On August 7th Boots to Books hosted an onboarding to give veterans their free registration links through Lean Six Sigma. We gifted 14 total certifications, which included 10 Green Belts and 4 Black Belts. Boots to Books teamed up with Phase2 Advantage, an Army Veteran owned Cybersecurity instruction company that offers cutting edge certifications often used by government agencies to cover over $5000 in value of Cybersecurity certifications for Veterans. Certifications were for the Certified Disaster Response and Recovery Manager track.

Boots to Books started our first Magoosh test preparation course with an MBA hopeful preparing for the GMAT. Boots to Books used Magoosh (the e-learning platform) since to provide free test preparation for two Veterans preparing for the LSAT, and one’s preparation for the GMAT; self-paced to accommodate their schedules.

On June 25th, Boots to Books held a Career Coaching event for Veterans looking to transition into the Cybersecurity and IT realm. We had a fantastic host, Christophe Foulon who is a professor, podcast host and many more things. For hours we had veterans coming in and out, asking the tough questions.
